Apple Keeps Bluetooth At Its Core

Big news out of Cupertino (or rather, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco) yesterday as Apple unveiled updates to its iPhone line up, an entirely new iPad and the much anticipated update for Apple TV.

The new functionality of Apple TV revolves around the completely rethought Apple Remote. The device controls every aspect of the TV, from volume levels to serving as a control for gaming – and, of course, it is powered by Bluetooth® Smart technology.

Not only does the power efficiency of Bluetooth Smart give this device an estimated three months between charging times, it also means you do not need line of site for control. We fully expect developers to take advantage of Bluetooth Smart in the Apple TV, turning the tv into a hub for their Bluetooth enabled gaming controllers, smart lights, locks, windows, and kitchen appliances. While the focus of Apple’s keynote was on content, music and gaming, it’s the applications connecting everyday devices to the Apple TV that will deliver the fully automated home we have been waiting for.

This is the big brother of the iPad line and packs a mighty list of features, not least of which is Bluetooth 4.2, the latest version of Bluetooth. The two new iPhones – iPhone 6s and 6s Plus – also use Bluetooth 4.2. Apple’s continued quick adoption of Bluetooth technology ensures that the Apple community will have access to the most up-to-date features Bluetooth has to offer, including enhanced privacy and government grade security.

With these new products coming early this fall, you can get ready for even more Bluetooth  to make your life simple, seamless, and secure.
